A School!!
I have been conspicuously quiet here as I have been working very hard on a really interesting project with a local school here. The P&C at the school have funded an artist in residence program and I have been invited to come and felt with the children. Wow what an undertaking and so far we a going great guns. They have all made prefelts and noodles and learned a whole lot about wool, felt and living as an artist. The next step is to put it all together.
We are making a huge wall hanging depicting a local waterfall area and the total size when finished will be approx 7m x 2m !!!!!!!! Just have a think about how big that is before shrinkage!!!
I will post some pics soon but I have to get back to the dyepots and create some more colour for the work to come.
Stay tuned!

many years ago our local primary school received funding for an AIR - which the principal then spread/scraped very thinly over 3 times the proposed length of the project
and i [being naive and enthusiastic] simply went along with
but
we transformed the school
printed curtains for the art-room, made a felt teepee and then
stitched a patchworked tent with every student's self portrait on it
pauses for breath
am looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. the best thing is seeing the wee ones blossom...
You are so right India. The Kindies crack me up. They earnestly made some prefelt for a while but once one discovered that the wool sliver also made a rather marvelous tail well everyone had to have one!!!
l often work in schools and just love the way primary school children see things..they are adventous and often can't see why they can't do something!enjoyx
