These are the latest in my dyeing endeavors. I seem to get the most amazing colour on silk. Rich chocolate browns But the wool is just the many shades of beige! Each of these samples , both silk and wool were dyed together. I added some copper pipe as mordant but I'm going to have to up the mordant stakes I think to get much of a response on wool.
Some lovely leaf prints from a prunus are encouraging.
Those leaf prints are stunning - wow what colours and shapes! What are you going to make from it?
ReplyDeleteNot sure yet They may go into a hat some how or maybe a wrap. I'ts an organza silk so open weave but stiff.
ReplyDeleteorganza silk sucks up colour much more rapidly than wool...remember wool needs heat and time and if the organza is going into the same pot then that's where the colour is going....

ReplyDeleteWell, the shades of chocolate you got are gorgeous, very rich. Maybe they even combine well together the beige and chocolate for some nuno!
ReplyDeleteI wish there were eucaplyptus around here. Not a tree in sight.
Ok so I'm going back to the pool to get some more bark. That seemed to give me the darkest brown of the three. I shall cram the pot with it and try again leaving the wool to steep longer, on it's own and sit there for a few days. Wish me luck!
